Can you share with us a bit about your art, yourself and how it got started ?
I am MA in English Literature , BEd and have always been creatively inclined. After marriage and kids my hobbies took a backseat for a long time. I was once again bitten by the hobby bug when we got posted to Delhi ,there were so many interesting hobby classes going on and age was no bar !
How did you come with the idea of making candles, CP(Cold Porcelain) and now Quilling ? Candles had always fascinated me and I joined a candle making class in Delhi, got totally hooked and started my own classes on demand. Then we were transferred to a small township where there was no scope for my designer candles due to lack of resources. Thanks to Madhavi’s Get Crafty I was introduced to many new crafts including CP (Cold Porcelain) and quilling sitting at home !
What do you do with your artwork ?
Designer candles as gifts are always highly appreciated , I also sell candles during Diwali . My CP and quilling artwork is accumulating right now as I am still learning and need more practice . My latest interest is making quilled cards and gifting them.
What keeps you motivated ?
Learning new crafts and perfecting them keeps my spirits high . I was thrilled to be interviewed by Times Of India Delhi about my designer candles last year.
My blogs on candle making , crafts and quilling fulfill my desire to write and showcase my work.
Which of your tools is most important ?
The trusty toothpick is my favourite tool as I quill while watching TV !
Which part of the creative process do you enjoy the most ?
I enjoy the entire creative process ,right from scratch , and of course the final result !
What would be your tips, advice and suggestion to your fellow crafters ?
Its never too old to learn anything . There is an equal amount of inspiration and perspiration behind any craft.Innovate and try to make fresh projects , that’s creativity.
If you had no financial or time constraints what dream project would you like to work on ?
My dream project is to start my own small scale candle manufacturing unit as I am unable to fulfill large orders at home.
