Farah Ahmed, an ex-army wife is a homemaker and a home entrepreneur. Married for the last 12 years, she is also an artist who makes gift items and home decoratives.
Farah never took up art as a career though she was very much interested in art. An academic throughout her life, she devoted her time to her studies. Farah is an M.Phil. in History from JNU, New Delhi, and have completed her B. Ed. from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Being the wife of an army officer gave Farah the opportunity to travel and stay with her husband in the length and breadth of the country. She took up a job as a school teacher at first, teaching history. But frequent transfers also lead to change in jobs as well. After she became a mother, she wanted to spend as much time as possible with her son, and enjoy motherhood to the fullest. She decided to be a home maker, but she did not want to sit idle. As she was also an art lover, her love for arts and crafts resurfaced, and she started doing craftworks as a hobby.
In one of her new places of residence, Farah got a chance to work with AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Association), where she learnt a number of crafts being taught in the AWWA Vocational Institute. This triggered off her passion towards craftworks, and once her husband quit the Army, she decided to make this hobby into a career.
Farah now works from home. She is now based in New Delhi. She makes various types of handicraft gift items like coasters, paintings (madhubani, Warli, nib painting, Egyptian painting, etc.), murals, pen-stands, etc. She also make things on order, and put up exhibitions.
