Sand Painting

Sand Painting is a very beautiful art work. Its very simple and the result is really good.

Everyday, I keep thinking how to start my day. What should I do which is something new? What should I cook? What should I learn? Whom should I bore?

One thing I like to do other than reading books (check out my website to see what I am reading) is painting. I am doing a new fabric painting piece, starting today. Other than that there are lot of pending paintings which are Work in Progress (and I’m running out of places to hang them in my house, or friends to lend them to).

Sachin keeps telling me, “Meera, there is only 24 hours in a day”. I wish there were more than 24 hours. This weekend we are planning to go watch Fantastic Four- Rise of the Silver Surfer. I will tell you how it was once I see the movie. I actually want to see Shivaji (Rajani Kanth starrer), but I guess its not releasing in Bangalore.

Ok, back to Sand painting. As I was saying, it is a simple and interesting type of art work. If anyone is interested in doing one, do let me know and I’ll try to help. I probably might put a post on the how-to later, but let me know if you are interested.

Hello All, I’m Madhavi Sivan. This is my website, where I share the arts and craft work that I do or learn from various sources, online or offline. Arts and Crafts is my passion, which I do as a hobby, and gives me a break from my day-job. ( Sorry, I don’t take any arts and crafts classes though :-) ). Currently I also have some other good folks posting to my site and sharing their art work as well. I may not be able to answer any tutorial queries by email or send anything related to steps on doing things, but would be glad to respond to any questions about the blog, the content of this blog, photography or would like permission to use something you like on my site. Hi there,

I’ve looked around & there really doesn’t seem to be much information about sand-painting on the web (specifically, about permanent sand-painting on a flat surface, as opposed to colored sand in a jar, and as opposed to temporary sand “painting” on a horizontal surface, which is more like performance art, and which is what you get when you search for “sand painting” on YouTube).

ANYWAY, what I’d really like to know is what kind of surface is best for your kind of sand painting. I can’t tell from your photo, but it looks like you used a canvas. But is it better to use a hard surface, such as wood?
